Hello my readers,
I know many of you came here expecting my next budgeting post. Trust me, I was ready to share it. I had notes, ideas, and that usual excitement to break down something practical and helpful.
But as soon as I sat down to write, my mind froze.
How could I focus on budgeting tips when my heart was heavy with grief?
How could I talk about savings strategies when the news from home was filled with killings, kidnappings, and attacks especially against Christians?
Numbers suddenly felt small. Spreadsheets felt irrelevant.
What was happening in Nigeria demanded my full attention, my full emotion, and my full voice.
Nigeria is where I was born and raised. It will always be home, no matter where I live now. So when the nation aches, I feel that ache deeply. I may not understand everything each community is facing, but I know the sorrow, the fear, the exhaustion — because I’ve seen it, lived through parts of it, and watched loved ones endure it.
Many people are tired.
Tired of praying.
Tired of hoping.
Tired of seeing Christians attacked again and again, feeling unprotected and unheard.
It is understandable.
Our parents and grandparents prayed this same prayer for decades.
And I understand that exhaustion.
But in the middle of my heaviness, God reminded me of King Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20. Judah was surrounded by multiple armies they had no power to defeat. Fear filled the land. The future looked hopeless. And Jehoshaphat prayed a prayer that I believe captures the heart of every Nigerian right now:
“We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on You.”
That one line holds so much truth. So much surrender. So much honesty.
And God answered:
“Do not be afraid… for the battle is not yours, but God’s.”
Nigeria needs that kind of intervention right now — the kind only God Himself can bring. We need His peace, His justice, His protection, and His mercy to cover the land.
As I prayed, a song that carried me through some of my darkest personal seasons came back to me: “Outnumbered” by Lakewood Music. If you worship at Lakewood like I do, you already know how powerful that song is when you feel completely surrounded, overwhelmed, or outmatched. That song has ministered to me in ways I can’t fully explain.
If you’re struggling with fear, grief, or discouragement about Nigeria or even about your own life — I encourage you to take a moment and listen to it. Let it strengthen your spirit. Let it remind you that even when we feel outnumbered, we are never alone.
So today, I’m asking you — wherever you are — please pause and pray for Nigeria.
Pray for families who are mourning unspeakable losses.
Pray for Christians and other vulnerable communities facing attacks.
Pray for leaders to rise with wisdom and courage.
Pray for God’s presence to sweep across the land.
Even if you feel tired.
Even if it feels pointless.
Even if you wonder whether your prayers make a difference.
Galatians 6:9 beautifully reminds us:
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
Thank you for reading.
Thank you for caring.
Thank you for standing with Nigeria in this difficult season.
