Welcome to the month of February. I truly hope January was a meaningful and productive month for us all. As I continue the practice of writing things down, I want to pause and reflect, specifically on our goals for January.
How did it go?
This isn’t necessarily a conversation to have with me, but one to have with your spouse, accountability partner, or a trusted group of friends. Retrospective analysis is incredibly valuable; it helps us identify what worked, what didn’t, and what we can improve moving forward. Reflection brings clarity.
“Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord.” — Lamentations 3:40
I thought it would be helpful to share a few things I accomplished in January, and I would love to read in the comments some of the things you did that you’re proud of as well.
Gratitude and Purpose
Before I go any further, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who reads my blog, is blessed by it, and reaches out to me personally to share how these posts have impacted them. I do not take that lightly at all.
The Bible says:
“For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” — Revelation 19:10
Everything I write and everything I do with my life is for His glory alone. I give God all the praise.
Walking in Honesty and Obedience
I try my best not to be a hypocrite, which is why the things I write here, especially those that pertain to my personal life are honest and accurate. Not perfect, but truthful.
While writing my goals for 2026 and reviewing a church tax document for my tithe last year, I realized that I had not been faithful in this area. That realization convicted me deeply. I’m grateful to share that this past month, I paid my tithe, and it felt like a significant spiritual victory. I’m praying for the grace to remain faithful.
“Whoever is faithful in very little is also faithful in much.” — Luke 16:10
Feel free to hold me accountable….. Ask me at the end of every month if I paid my tithe (yes, I’m serious… LOL).
Financial Wins
Another accomplishment I’m extremely proud of is paying off a credit card. It was a huge relief. As Dave Ramsey often teaches, the next steps are to cut up the card and ring the “You Did It” bell. I still need to do both—LOL—but I’m celebrating progress.
“The borrower is slave to the lender.” — Proverbs 22:7
Spiritual and Personal Growth
I slept well most nights, according to my watch, which tracks my sleep hours. Rest is something I’m learning to value more.
I also read my Bible daily—morning and evening—using the YouVersion app. For this season of my life, this approach has worked beautifully. I journaled almost every day as well. On some days, I combined entries, and honestly, it felt great. Journaling helped me think clearly, track progress, and look back at answered prayers.
“Write the vision; make it plain.” — Habakkuk 2:2
Areas I Struggled With
Now for the not-so-great parts because growth requires honesty.
Exercise was a struggle. I truly applaud those who can work out consistently at home. I canceled my fitness membership in December with hopes of doing home workouts, but that hasn’t gone as planned. Some of us genuinely need instructor-led sessions. I also planned to run twice a week, and I was doing well until the weather changed. Then… I quit. I’m praying February will be better. If you have any workout ideas or suggestions, please share.
Another challenge was excessive screen time. I found myself scrolling far more than I’d like. That’s something I’m being intentional about reducing in February.
“I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless.” — Psalm 101:3
Looking Ahead
This reflection—this retrospective analysis—has already helped me plan better for February. I hope you also take time to write down your goals for this new month. And if you haven’t done so yet, it’s not too late, February has already started, but grace allows us to begin again.
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” — Isaiah 43:18–19
Here’s to growth, grace, and consistency—one month at a time.
A Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for carrying me through the month of January. Thank You for every lesson learned, every small win, and even the areas where I fell short because I know You are still working in me. I ask for the grace to remain faithful in the things You have entrusted to me, whether spiritual, financial, or personal. Help me to steward my time, body, and resources well. As I step into a new month, guide my steps, renew my strength, and align my desires with Your will. May my life continue to bring You glory in all things. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Personal Takeaway Question
As you reflect on January, ask yourself:
What is one habit or decision I want to carry forward into the new month, and what is one thing I need to let go of to grow?
